Mentored Fellow Research Award
A mentored research award for neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows interested in learning about and utilizing large data registries such as CHND for a scholarly project.
Program Aim
The CHNC Mentored Fellow Research Award provides project funding for neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows, supported by the CHNC. This program is designed for neonatal-perinatal fellows who are interested in pursuing scholarly work utilizing multi-site CHNC data. In alignment with the organization’s mission, “CHNC is dedicated to improving care and outcomes for infants in Children’s Hospital NICUs through sharing of data, information. and ideas for benchmarking, research, and development of safety and quality improvement initiatives'', this grant provides the opportunity for fellows to engage in research during training that has the potential to impact the care and/or outcomes of neonates who are cared for in level IV NICUs across the US and Canada.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be enrolled in neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at a participating CHNC site
- Applicants must have an additional two years commitment (including research and clinical training) in an accredited neonatal-perinatal fellowship program from the award start date (annually in July)
Award Benefits
- CHNC statistical support for the trainee’s designed research proposal (up to 30 hours)
- CHNC mentorship (including content experts, data registry experts)
- Registration and travel funds (if applicable for in-person conference) for awardee at the CHNC Annual Symposium
Award Expectations
- Work presented at CHNC Symposium
- Submission of scholarly work product for publication
